Process Documentation: 06

This past week, I chose my final 3 locations for my PSA environmental experiences. The KC Public Library (Plaza branch), a garage stairwell on the plaza, and the hallway in Cinemark that crosses over the street. I went back to reconsider the spaces I had been working on this past week to make sure that I was accurately expressing the 3 feelings to produce the intended emotions from the viewer. To do this, I have created a list of situations that produce these emotions based on personal experiences and those of others (input from my lovely classmates included).

Embarrassment:
Rejection
Exposure
Mirrors
Glass
Looking "dumb"
Not knowing where you're going
Not knowing what you're talking about
Not knowing what you're doing
Losing
Messing Up
Being outspoken/ridiculous
Spilling things
Awkward Smells
Seeing emotions you aren't supposed to see
Girls (According to Ray)
Losing train of thought
Getting called out on something
Sweat
Laughing louder than anyone else in a social setting
Being wrong
Not being able to see

Overwhelmed:
People talking at once (trying to get attention at one time)
May needs at one time
Lots of options (buttons?)
Large objects in small places (with multiples)
Unreachable necessities/objects
Closets (claustrophobic)
Tight spaces
Stuffy air (warm temperature, humidity)
Loud music
Lots of people/crowds
Water
Looking for something you can't find
Carrying a lot of objects

Victorious:
Being around fun/close people
Winning
Proving yourself right
Satisfaction
Comfort
Composure/Confidence
Compliments
Clothes
Awards
Education
Leaving house early in the morning--start of a new day
Knowing what you're talking about

From this point, I have altered each idea to fit the new (and improved) techniques of producing the intended emotions.

Overwhelmed:
Atmosphere: Saturated, bold color + Macro images of faces expressing urgency (Ex/ eyes, lips, eyebrows) that will invade personal space. Additionally an intrusive brown color will seem like it is flooding the exit door on the walk through the space.

Embarrassed:
Sound: You're WRONG! (in repetition, loudly for everyone in entrance of library to hear, preferably shouting)
Atmosphere: Transparent panels with slight openings. Everyone can see what you're doing but it is difficult to find your way through--you don't know where you're going, you can only see where you need to be. (I have decided to keep the the same basic forms/maze from the last round even the actual word "shame" will never be truly recognizable).
Touch: A slight mist (water) will occur in certain corners (produced by sensing movement)

Victorious:
Sound: #1) #2) #3)#3B) #3C) #4) #5)#6) #7) #8) #9) #10)
Atmosphere: Each voice will sound with each step (produced by motion sensor on step) that leads you up the step to the final level (#10) with victory. The viewer will then be confronted with the meaning of the journey and words by the explanation located at the top of the flight.
