Process Documentation: 01

How can graphic design be used to augment, alter,
or glorify environmental experiences?

SUB-QUESTIONS:
How can graphic design manipulate the perception of an environmental space
in order to stir awareness for _____(insert cause)?
Consider the intent of the space in relation to the intended audience.

How can the space be manipulated through the use of illusions, type and technology?

What are at least 3 environments that respond to at least 3 intended emotions?
I am still considering a number of different options for the content of the created spaces. These include; disease, poverty, abandoned children, education system, body image, and racism). Each environment I create should be behind an organization that provide some kind of call-to-action promoted by my project (in a subtle way). In order to produce the intended emotions from the viewer, I will begin by experimenting with a variety of emotions. These emotions should inform the cause based on the success of the environment. These experiments will use illusion, type and technology as a starting point at altering the space and continue with other materials and techniques as the experiments continue. There are a few underlying emotions from the possible causes previously listed. These include emotions like despair, confusion, and loneliness (wow, those are pretty depressing). First, I will build a model in order to produce accurate experiments. In the end, my goal for the final outcome is to have three final environments (2=model, 1=full size). Each of the three should remain separate and different from the other. In other words, three completely separate ideas and environments. These experiments will involve research on environmental, color and psychology of the senses. (See on right side panel). From this point, I will create a running list of causes and emotions to start my initial experiments in model form. To begin this, I have been researching various altered environments and techniques of illusion based on my previous experimentation from Type IV. Here are a few examples of this:
